July 2010 Letter
Dear wonderful parents,
In 2005 I started the process of having a workroom addition built on to the Children's Center. I saw the staff lugging heavy materials back and forth from home to school and wanted to help by giving them a place to prepare their wonderful materials here at school. I also wanted them to have a place to eat lunch &/or have meetings where they could sit in "grown-up" chairs and ease their backs, a safe place for our growing library, and a REAL Family Resource Center. Nothing happens quickly, and the remodel process was certainly no exception. BUT...we are finally underway. We had our last wonderful week of summer school ending on July 22nd and the roof came off on the 23rd! I am writing this with the sound of many hammers in the background and a smile on my face.
The workroom is being built as an addition to the front of the building. Reception will be in the same area as it has always been. The FRC and my office will be out towards the sanctuary in front, and the new workroom will be built to the South of that, where my office and the staff workroom/Jenny's office/copy room used to be.
NONE OF THE CLASSROOMS WILL BE AFFECTED
We are hoping that construction will be limited to the front of the building by the time that school starts, (no more roof work). When you come to school you will see signage guiding you
to park in the back parking lot. The front of the CC will be fenced off for the safety of the children. If you have a handicap placard, you may park in the handicap spots out front, or, you may find that the handicap spaces in the back are closer. You will be able to use the double doors at the far end of the patio only. The classrooms will also use their back doors to access the "Beach" play yard.
You will also see signs directing you to the CC office. We are in a temporary space in room 2, down the hall from the Choir room, and next to the Garden Room. Come see us, we love visitors!
We realize that the parking and office location will not be as convenient for all of you and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
The estimated completion date is October 15th. As soon as the project is completed you may again park in the closer lot and use all access doors to the CC. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to give us a call or come by.
As a friendly reminder, your second tuition installment was due on July 1st. I hope you are all enjoying these gorgeous, summer days and filling your lungs with the delicious smells of summer.
See you soon!
Love,
Non
